      What Does the Program Calculate?

The program’s results appear at the bottom of the Portfolio section. The report contains two columns of results. To calculate the report values, the program uses the Redemption Value Table, published by the Bureau of Public Debt. Use the Reports section to create a printed report.

For the Selected Bond, the program calculates and displays the following results in the left column:

      • Redemption Value The value as of the Bond Portfolio Redemption Date. For bonds with Issue Dates after May 1997 and within five years of the Bond Portfolio Redemption Date, this value always includes the 3-month interest penalty.
      • Total Interest Earned The total interest earned since the Issue Date.
      • Interest Earned (Year to Date) The total interest earned as of the redemption year.
      • Yield to Date  The average interest rate since the Issue Date.
      • Next Accrual Date The next date at which the bond accrues interest.
      • Final Maturity Date The date at which the bond stops earning interest.

For the Entire Portfolio, the program calculates and displays the following results in the right column:

      • Redemption Value The value of the entire portfolio as of the Bond Portfolio Redemption Date. Indicating bonds as Reissued or Redeemed lowers the Redemption Value for the entire portfolio. This value always includes the 3-month interest penalty for bonds with Issue Dates after May 1997 and within five years of the Bond Portfolio Redemption Date. This value does not include bonds with Issue Dates after the Bond Portfolio Redemption Date.
      • Total Interest Earned The total interest earned by all bonds in the portfolio.
      • Interest Earned (Year to Date) The total interest earned by all bonds in the portfolio for the redemption year.
